Our friends over at about.me have just rolled out support for DailyBoooth. Now you can link up your DailyBooth account with your about.me account and have your latest booths displayed on your about.me homepage. Want to see it in action? Check out @Catrific‘s page. It’s sweet!

To link up your DailyBooth account with your about.me account just login to about.me, click on edit profile, then under the “services” tab find and click on the DailyBooth logo. Boom-that’s-it-done.

We’ve just rolled out an update to notifications. We listened to the feedback we received about our latest update and fixing notifications was high up the list.

So what have we changed?!

– We moved everything to the header so when you get a notification it isn’t so intrusive.
– We made everything a drop-down. Not something that’s always in your face.
– We broke notifications up into 3 separate sections so you can quickly see what types of notifications you have at a glance.

We’ve been playing with this internally for a while now and think it’s a much better solution. Let us know what you think in the comments!

Return 2 Me is a postcard community mail project started by dedicated DailyBooth user, Scott Moore. He created a thread on DailyBooth asking users to take a photo of themselves that he would turn into a postcard. After gathering the postcards, addressing them to himself, and adding postage, he is ready to place the postcards all over the world. They were shipped to 8 different states and 3 different countries: Switzerland, Ireland, and New Zealand.

The idea is for the postcards to be set in random places throughout cities and neighborhoods and returned back to Scott. On the back of the postcard it reads, “Please add something and return to me”.
He’s received many postcards already after just starting the project last week and is posting them on his DailyBooth account as well as Return 2 Me’s official website.
The idea is similar to that of Post Secret, which was a popular success that started back in 2005. The idea was that you wrote a secret on a postcard that you decorate, mail it in, then it would be posted online on Post Secret’s blog. Return 2 me seems like a fun and promising project that we look forward to following.

Along with the obvious design and UI updates, there is a load of awesome new features to play with. I’ll outline some of the more awesome ones below.

Notifications!
Notifications are something that DailyBooth has needed for a long time. Up until now there was no way of knowing if someone commented on your picture unless you actually went to it and checked. Many comments on old photos were missed because there was no way of knowing they were there!

There is now a site-wide notifications bar that alerts you when anything happens that related to you.

Quilt view
We added this cool view to the profile pages so you can easily see the latest 50 pictures a user has taken at a glance. The quilt view is especially useful when you’re  scrolling back in time, trying to find a specific picture from a few months ago.

Sticky comment bar
You no longer have to spend ages scrolling down on popular pictures to leave a comment. The new sticky comment bar is always visible so you can leave a comment from wherever you are in a thread!

Group messaging
You can now start private group conversations with your closest friends on DailyBooth. We’ve been playing with this internally for a few weeks now and it’s a lot of fun!

P.S. The first ever DailyBooth picture was taken 2 years and 3 days ago. I think this is a fitting update to celebrate its birth!
